About Mrs. Speech

Hey there! I’m Jennifer Tillock (aka Mrs. Speech).

Just your friendly internet SLP, here to share insights and resources that will empower your speech therapy practice.

I graduated with my Master’s in 2000 (receiving degrees from both sides of the Oklahoma rivalry), and so far I’ve worked as a speech language pathologist in schools across Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois. It’s been a wild and crazy adventure, I assure you, with plenty of unforgettable moments, both with teachers and students.

Embracing Technology From the Start

I’ve always had an affinity for technology. My first job in college was creating web pages for the Biology department when the internet first went public! In 2020, I began teletherapy (along with everyone else). This wasn’t easy for anyone, but I love how it supports students in ways we only dreamed of when I got my diploma. I fully embraced teletherapy in Fall of 2023, and I’m loving every minute of it!

In addition, I’ve been delving into the creation of digital materials since 2013. There is just something so incredibly satisfying to make that “just right” material for a student, and seeing how it impacts their progress.

Once it is made, it goes into my Mrs. Speech Teachers Pay Teachers store, a grandmother’s attic of niche gems! Knowing I’ve saved others time and trouble by providing materials I couldn’t find gives me a sense of purpose. Rubrics, problem-solving scenarios, context clues, or lesson guides…I’ve got a little bit of everything to support both SLPs and educators.

Multi-Genre Author

Beyond my digital resources, I’ve also self-published communication-themed books, both under my name, Jennifer Tillock, and my pen name, Christine Tellach. These books, for both children and adults, include a stuttering facts book “It’s Just the Way I Talk,” a safety and self-advocacy workbook “Talk It Out, Work It Out,” and a book for writers “Unspoken Volumes: Writing Characters with Communication Challenges.” You can see more on my “Books” page, or visit my webstore: Mrs. Speech Books.

But my world extends beyond the therapy room and the digital workshop. Outside of these professional enterprises, I also live on a homestead with my husband and two daughters… and a dog, a cat, a few fish, a flock of chickens…

Whether I’m working on my novel in progress (currently a Gothic Western), crafting, or just enjoying some “me” time with a book and a bath, I’m always finding an outlet for these creative sparks.

So why am I here?

Through this blog, I’m excited to be able to share some of the tidbits I’ve picked up over the years and connect with all of the other speechies! So whether you’re a fellow SLP, a teletherapy newbie, or just love awesome materials, stick around! Let’s make a difference together!
